meme'n

Davi tagged me. I'm a sucker for these things, so I'm doing as I've been directed.

TEN things you wish you could say to TEN people right now.

1. He's not THE ONE. You won't meet THE ONE for awhile.
2. Do you realize your mistake yet?
3. Even if I don't like you, your kids are pretty great.
4. Don't screw it up again.
5. You are an excellent Dad. Thank you.
6. I’m really grateful for the blind date you set me up on.
7. These 21 years...in two days...have been wonderful.
8. You make me smile almost every day.
9. Why must you pick those silly, little fights?
10. You DO have the internal strength.

NINE things about yourself.

1. I have a bad cold and am high on cold meds as I write this.
2. Being a lawyer was my second choice. I was too chicken to go for my first choice.
3. I used to be a natural blond. Then I had kids.
4. I hate running.
5. I am NOT a neat freak.
6. I married a neat freak.
7. I can sew! Clothes, curtains, upholster furniture, whatever...
8. I love ice cream. I could marry ice cream.
9. I over prepare for almost everything.

EIGHT ways to win your heart.

1. Back rubs.
2. Big hugs.
3. A sense of humor.
4. Helping with the house...heck, DOING the house work!
5. Sweet words.
6. Letting me be me.
7. A nice butt!
8. Cuddling up and sleeping in.

SEVEN things that cross your mind a lot.

1. Eldest
2. Younger
3. Work
4. Stuff I've forgotten to do at work
5. Stuff I didn't have time to do at work
6. Mommy stuff I've forgotten to do
7. Mommy stuff I didn't have time to do

SIX things you do before you fall asleep.

1. Read blogs
2. Ninja-ize
3. Read
4. Check what time the Chickadees need to be up
5. Watch the news
6. Have a nightcap (sometimes)

FIVE people who mean a lot to you at the moment.

1. Car-man
2. Younger
3. Eldest
4. Parents (they've been together so long, they count as 1)
5. My brother

FOUR things you really enjoy doing.

1. Spending time with the Chickadees
2. Blogging!
3. One on one time with Car-man :)
4. Being a student of the law.

THREE things you absolutely hate:

1. Cooking and having no one eat it.
2. When my mom is judgmental and argumentative.
3. Watching my girls hurt.

TWO places you want to travel to that you've never been before.

1. Ireland.
2. Greece.

ONE confession.

1. I am lazy about cleaning the house. LAZY. Lazy, I tell you. (Lazy, Car-man would tell you.) It's not my forte.

I won't tag anyone. Play along if you wish.

It's the outline of a house.

soundtrack

Here's a fun assignment...fill out the soundtrack of your life. Well, it's extra credit, so you don't have to do it if you don't want to.

Opening Credits: Me and the Farmer by the Housemartins but Crummy Stuff's cover will work. (Can I just say I NEED to locate the Housemartins again. Damn iTunes doesn't have them. My old dubbed tape is just not doing it for me anymore.)

Waking up: Clocks by Coldplay

First Day of School: Yellowcard's Ocean Avenue

Fight Song: Dirty Man by Joss Stone

Breaking up: I'd pretty much go with the whole playlist I made Eldest, but if I have to pick one, I'll go with Goodbye to You by Michelle Branch

Prom: Modern English's I Melt With You!!! What? I'll take no guff from you. My last prom was in 1984! It was cool and NOT an ad song back then. And I would have totally given it up for Nicolas Cage's Tommy in Valley Girl.

Mental Breakdown: Fuck Was I by Jenny Owen Youngs (Big thank to Picket for introducing me to that one.) However, if the breakdown is induced by the chickadees, then it would have to be Teenagers by My Chemical Romance.

Driving: Um...my whole Liz Phair playlist...but definitely Extraordinary

Flashback: Brown Eyed Girl by Van Morrison or Hang on Sloopy by The McCoys

Getting Back Together: My favorite song ever...Alison by Elvis Costello

Wedding: Because I am a complete sap and because it was actually my first wedding dance with Car-man, Nat King Cole's When I Fall In Love

Birth of a Child: Louis Armstrong's What A Wonderful World or New Soul by Yael Naim

Final Battle: The artist counts the most on this one, the Dead Kennedy's I Fought the Law

Death Scene: Breath In, Breath Out by Mat Kearney (Yeah, I know. Grey's Anatomy already did it.) But, if the death scene is a plane crash, well, then I need At The Bottom Of Everything by Bright Eyes because that would be just too trippy.

Funeral Song: Eva Cassidy's Fields of Gold

Ending Credits: XTC's Dear God

That's rock-n-roll's house...the hall of fame!

tagged . . . dangit

I've been told I MUST play. Here are the rules:

(A) Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
(B) If you read this you are tagged and need to write a post on your own blog (about your eight things) and post these rules. (Those are the rules. I didn't write em. For me, do this, if you want to . . . pretty please?)
(C) If you do not have a blog you are not off the hook. Your reply goes in the comments. (Again, not my rules.)
(D) You MUST play along. Yes, I mean you! (Um actually, I won't hunt you down. But I DO like to read these things.)
  1. I kinda wish I would have stayed with the whole theatre thing. The money of my current career is good . . . but a little fun, a little make-believe and a little passion would be a good thing.
  2. I can sew and I really like to do it. I just don't make the time very often.
  3. Actually, I can do and enjoy all kinds of crafty things. I wish I had more time to take on these types of projects.
  4. I hate jello with stuff in it. Blech on all jello salads.
  5. I am a messy person. I am not good about picking up my messes. My bedroom, my office and my desk at home are where this shows up most frequently.
  6. I have been feeling sick--stomachy something--on and off for days, maybe even more than a week. It's getting very irritating. (Yeah, running low on the factoids. So now you're getting drool and drivel.)
  7. I am terrified of falling. Not so much of heights, just of falling off tall things. Tall bridges or freeway "fly-overs" are moments of absolute terror for me. And if we are standing on top of something tall and you pretend to push me off, I will freak and go all kung-fu on you and you better hope I don't hate you for life.
  8. Ah, I know . . . my high school sport was synchronized swimming. Really.

tagged

I'm tagging no one, but here's my response:

The meme rules:
1. Pick up the nearest book (of at least 123 pages).
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the next three sentences.
5. Tag five people.

Um, literally, the "nearest book" is the younger daughter's book so that's what you get:

"So the very next day Lilac went over to the Ryans' house with Jay. She seemed very pleased. She even stayed for lunch, and when she came home, she talked more than I'd ever heard her." From "The Potato Kid" by Barbara Corcoran.
